By studying this cutaway Leica 'BA' Series binocular you can better appreciate why a premium binocular will cost so much more than the economical models. The right side (referred to as the left barrel based on the user's perspective) is largely intact but only has the shell cut-away in places. The left side and hinge are extensively cut-away so that you may better understand how it works, and appreciate the fine design and craftsmanship. The prism is fully intact in the barrel at right, while the prism above in the left side has been bisected. A clear plastic window has been attached over the left side, and inscribed to represent the light path through the binocular. This binocular has been on display at Company Seven since it was completed in September 1996.

And no, this is not for sale at ½ price!
