M42
Ray Gralak
took the RGB frames for this LRGB image on Christmas night, 2000.   Each
RGB frame is a one hour exposure, self-guided with an ST-8E, binned 2x2, through a 4.1"
AP Traveler.  Then, over a period of about one month, Ray collected a total of 24 hours of
H-alpha exposures, 10 minutes per frame, always guiding on the same star with the ST-8E.
Most of the H-alpha images were ruined by clouds, but 35 frames (almost 6 hours of exposure)
were selected to compile the Luminance layer.  What makes this image all the more remarkable
is that it was all done from Ray's light polluted backyard in San Jose, California.
