New Product Announcement
Quick Disconnect Accessory for
Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopes
Price $395
October 8, 2001

The Quick Disconnect accessory allows you to easily rotate, remove and replace the CCD camera head after it has been firmly attached to your telescope and brought to good focus.  The quick disconnect works by simply squeezing two large rings together. When the rings are released the camera head stays put. The camera head can be removed and a second ring holding a parfocal eyepiece can be attached for locating objects. When the camera is returned to the telescope it is still in focus.  The Quick Disconnect Accessory will work with the STV, ST-5C, ST-237 (including PixCel cameras), ST-7, ST-8, ST-9, ST-10 and ST-1001 camera models.

Quick Disconnect Accessory

The accessory includes a small base ring threaded for the rear cell of a typical Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope (A), one set of clamping rings for the CCD camera head (B), one set of clamping rings with a 1.25" drawtube and 25 mm Orthoscopic eyepiece (C).  A male-to male thread adapter (D) is also included for smaller cameras such as the ST-5C, ST-237 and STV.  The camera clamping rings are drilled to match the hole pattern on the face plate of the ST-7/8/9/10 cameras.  If one uses the male-to-male t-thread adapter on the ST-7/8/9/10 instead of the mounting holes, or if one attaches the Quick Disconnect accessory to the face plate of a CFW8 then optional extension tubes will need to be added to the eyepiece barrel for the eyepiece to remain parfocal.
