Contest Rules and Information

Submit your images for review and every month beginning in November 2001 SBIG will award a prize to the winner in each category:

1. Imaging Category
The winner each month will be chosen based on the quality, content and difficulty of the image. The "prettiest" picture may not be selected. For example, a B&W image of a 24th mag star, an amazing planetary shot or a 0.4 arcsecond double may win over a more appealing wide angle color image of the Orion Nebula.
Prize: Your choice of an ST-5C camera or Gold Edition ST-4*

2. Scientific Category:
Must be astronomy related. This category includes challenging photometric, astrometric or spectroscopic results that set new standards for amateur capability.
Prize: Your choice of an ST-5C camera or Gold Edition ST-4*

Rules:

Images may be taken only with SBIG cameras.
An image may be resubmitted if it does not win in a particular month.
Images that have already been selected as an Image of the Month on the SBIG web site are excluded.
One person cannot win more than one time.
Submissions must include full details of the image. At a minimum this includes:
    SBIG camera model
    Filter(s)
    Telescope type, aperture and focal ratio
    Mount
    Exposure details
    Image processing

This contest will run concurrent with our normal Image of the Month feature and winners of this contest may also have their image selected as the Image of the Month. But only winners of this contest are entitled to the prizes.

How to submit your entry: To submit an entry just send an e-mail to webmaster@sbig.com with a link to your image or data. You can also send images as an attachment to an e-mail message but we discourage this as much as we can because it tends to overload our e-mail system.

*Gold Edition ST-4: We have gathered together enough parts to produce one last batch of ST-4 autoguiders. The winners of this contest will receive a special Gold Edition ST-4 (really just an ST-4 with a gold color scheme) that will not be available for purchase - the only way to get one is to win it!
