Gitzo Sport Series Series 1 Tripods The substantial
differences between these tripod models are height, weight, sections, leg angle spread (Standard fixed or Performance
variable), and whether or not the center
column is a Rapid
(R), or Geared (G) center column. All of these tripod models employ the quick twist lock mechanism for the setting of leg
extension positions.

The Sport Series Performance models enables the legs to be set individually at either 24 degrees, or 60 degrees for low angle imaging, or for use on uneven terrain. These tripods are suitable for binoculars (and for astronomy assuming the binocular height is acceptable to the operator), 35mm and light medium format cameras, and terrestrial spotting telescopes. Their compact size, low weight, and robustness make these an ideal choice for backpackers while being equally suited for use at home, or in a studio, providing no compromise of stability!
