Heater and Dew Removal System:
- Variable Controller: Model A is a a duty cycle switch where 12 volts D.C. is input via an attached automobile cigarette lighter plug. The plug incorporates an in line fuze for protection. A red power on L.E.D. indicator is on the face plate. Electronic features includes in line fuse (250V 5A) and bridge rectifier reverse Polarity protection for Controller models made up to early 1996; later models will have diode reverse polarity protection. It is suggested that the Model A Controller be set to the lowest level necessary to be effective; a High setting will be rarely used, possibly only to clear dew or frost already formed on the lens.
- The Premier model adds the ability to automatically regulate current to the heater elements in response to changes of ambient temperature, or temperature and humidity. An ambient temperature (T) or temperature/humidity (T/H) sensor (included in the set), and an optional Optic temperature sensor are required to compelete a system.
- The controller supplies each heater element with its full complement of power. The rotary dial varies temperature (power) output to the four jacks. There is no division of power with the use of two or more heaters. The 12 volt DC power in cord is six (6) feet long. A self adhesive Velcro strip is supplied to attach the controller onto a convenient location.
- The controller is shielded to prevent radio frequency interference (RFI) between it and other electronic components including CCD imaging cameras. However, Company Seven suggests that while a power supply may be shared between the controller and a telescope, ideally a separate and isolated power supply should be provided for use with CCD cameras and personal computers.
- Each optional heater element includes a 48 inch long power cable with an RCA Male plug.
